Manpower was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States of the attorneys Elmer Winter and Aaron Scheinfeld in 1948
The first offices opened in Milwaukee and Chicago. Today ManpowerGroup is present in more than 80 countries and has more than 33 000 employees. The head office is still in Milwaukee.
Manpower Norway opened in 1965. The start was humble beginnings with one office in Oslo, and 67 employees. Today we are present at 35 locations in Norway, and every day 6000 employees are working with one of our clients.
The core that Manpower was founded on, is still alive and well. Long before it was fashionable to talk about social responsibility and values, this was part of Manpower's core business. Already in 1969 Elmer Winter wrote a note to his colleagues where he stated his belief that the purpose of working in Manpower should be much more than maximizing profits for the owners.
Because we are dedicated in getting our candidates meaningful jobs, and our clients competent staff, our work gives meaning far beyond just making money
